Manchester City moved to within touching distance of the Women's Super League title with a 5-2 victory over Tottenham, while Chelsea's title hopes suffered a major blow after a 1-1 draw with London City Lionesses. City now hold an eight-point lead at the top of the table.
Khadija Shaw scored the fastest hat-trick in WSL history, netting three times in just 12 minutes and 37 seconds. Shaw told Sky Sports: 'It was a good afternoon, I must say. Especially off the back of the result last week, we knew we needed to have a great start and coming out here we did that. Overall a good performance.'
Tottenham head coach Martin Ho admitted his side paid for a poor first half: 'A game of two halves. First half, we didn't compete at all. Second half, we did compete, better with duels and more organised. We had numerous chances and could have got a few goals but we can't perform in that way in the first half and expect to come out with more.'
Manchester United climbed above Chelsea into second place after Melvine Malard scored a late winner against Everton. Malard said: 'We deserved that because we started good. Terland scored a goal and it's not easy but we keep going. We knew we needed to win today and we did that.'
Arsenal cruised to a 5-0 win over West Ham, with goals from Hansen, Kelly and others. In other news, The Athletic reported that Chelsea duo Sam Kerr and Millie Bright are expected to leave the club at the end of the season when their contracts expire.
