Manchester City have confirmed a double selection boost ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown with Liverpool.
Man City travel to Anfield on Sunday for their first outing since being found guilty of all charges relating to breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations.
Enzo Maresca’s side have been warned to expect a hostile atmosphere from the Merseyside faithful, though the City boss has had some injury concerns on his mind ahead of the trip.
Haaland and Semenyo return to training
Antoine Semenyo withdrew from the Ghana squad due to injury, missing their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ivory Coast and Gambia as a result.
Erling Haaland, meanwhile, limped off in Norway’s final Nations League match against Portugal last Sunday but fears over a serious injury were played down.
“Well, it wasn’t just with him; I spoke with about five or six players who have played a lot of minutes,” Stale Solbakken told reporters.
“It’s important that they feel I’m listening to them, and we agreed that he would keep going until he felt he couldn’t contribute anymore. We were talking about the 60-minute mark or thereabouts.”
O'Reilly absent from training images
In addition, Nico O’Reilly was sent home by England earlier than expected due to a muscle injury after struggling in the defeat to Spain on September 26.
As the Man City players returned to the City Football Academy on Thursday to begin preparations for the Liverpool clash, both Haaland and Semenyo took part in the training session in a double boost for Maresca.
There was, however, no sign of O’Reilly from the images uploaded to the club’s official website but Maresca is sure to provide an update in the pre-match press conference on Friday morning.
