Harry Maguire mocked as Man Utd draw with Tottenham goes viral
Maguire humiliated as Man Utd Tottenham draw footage goes viral

Harry Maguire was left embarrassed after unseen footage from Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur went viral. The defender was seen sarcastically waving goodbye to Rodrigo Bentancur after the Uruguayan was sent off, only for Spurs to snatch a late equaliser.

Maguire's taunt backfires

United were played off the park by Tottenham in the first half at Old Trafford, but somehow managed to survive until half-time with the score still goalless. There was an improvement in the second half, with Bryan Mbeumo eventually putting United ahead 17 minutes from full-time.

The three points looked all but wrapped up minutes later when Bentancur saw red for a needless headbutt on Luke Shaw. As the Uruguay international was trudging off the pitch, Maguire was seen sarcastically waving goodbye, while uttering "bye bye" with a smirk on his face.

Tottenham's late twist

In the end, it was the Tottenham players who had the last laugh, as they salvaged a point from the match. With the game having ticked over into added time, a hopeful cross from Sandro Tonali brushed the scalp of Dominic Solanke, whose glanced header snuck into the far corner.

It stunned Old Trafford, not least because Tottenham haven't won at all this season and were playing with 10 men at the time of the equaliser. United ultimately failed to win, leaving Maguire humiliated due to the moment that occurred in the aftermath of Bentancur's red card.

De Zerbi praises character

During his post-match debrief, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi praised the character shown by his players. He told BBC Sport: "It's not the first time. I think we are playing very well. We can't forget the opponent. Big players. But I think in the first half we deserved to be two goals up. In the first part of the second half, we suffered. The red card was the switch. It was the right reaction after the red card because we deserved to score."

He added: "Bentancur is a good guy, top player, great character. He made mistake but in this moment, this club needs a reaction. Sometimes it's not nice, it's not right. I want to see the same character, the same personality, the same personality we did this afternoon."

De Zerbi concluded: "I believe in football if we work well and if we are serious people and have qualities, you will make results. It's difficult to understand but if we are on the bottom of the table, we have to stay there. We have to be a team and then we find the results."
