However, Hungary boss Marco Rossi was quoted in Marca saying Szoboszlai's dream is to play for Real Madrid, sparking concerns among fans.
Former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given urged Liverpool to act swiftly. “He’s been the standout player for Liverpool all season,” Given told Match Of The Day. “I think they’ve dipped as a team, but this guy feels like he’s gone up a level. He is a special talent.” Given added: “If I was Liverpool, I’d try to tie him down.”
