Liverpool avenged their midweek Premier League defeat to Wolves with a 3-1 victory in the FA Cup fifth round at Molineux on Sunday. After a lacklustre first half, the Reds exploded into life after the break, with Andy Robertson opening the scoring before teeing up Mohamed Salah just 95 seconds later. Curtis Jones added a third midway through the second half, while Hwang Hee-Chan pulled one back in stoppage time for the hosts.
The win keeps Liverpool's hopes of silverware alive in what has been a difficult second season under Arne Slot. With the Premier League title out of reach, the FA Cup and a top-four finish remain realistic targets for the Merseyside club.
Mohamed Salah continued his return to form with a goal in his second successive game against Wolves, having scored his first Premier League goal since November in the midweek defeat. The Egyptian was involved in both of Liverpool's first two goals, setting up Robertson's opener before finishing from close range for the second.
Teenager Rio Ngumoha impressed once again for Liverpool, looking the most dangerous attacker in the first half with his direct running and skill. The 17-year-old outshone senior forwards Cody Gakpo and Salah in the opening period, though his end product remains inconsistent.
For Wolves, the defeat does little to dampen the mood after Tuesday's stunning win, but it ends their FA Cup run. The side remain in a relegation battle, though recent performances suggest they are moving in the right direction under manager Rob Edwards.
