Liverpool will learn their eight opponents for the Champions League league phase when the draw takes place later this week. The Reds, managed by Andoni Iraola, are looking to improve on last season's run, which ended in a quarter-final exit to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Pot 1 status and possible opponents
Liverpool have been placed in Pot 1, with their current coefficient ranking them eighth in UEFA's European team standings. The draw will assign each club two opponents from each pot, and no team can face a club from their own country in the league phase.
That rule rules out Arsenal, Manchester United, Aston Villa and Manchester City. Liverpool can play a maximum of two sides from any single association. Their potential Pot 1 opponents are Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
A draw against Inter would reunite Liverpool with Curtis Jones, who left Merseyside to join the Nerazzurri this summer.
Opponents from Pots 2, 3 and 4
Pot 2 could bring Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Sporting CP, Porto, Club Brugge, Real Betis or PSV Eindhoven. Pot 3 features Feyenoord, Lille, Bodo/Glimt, Napoli, RB Leipzig, Villarreal, Galatasaray, Shakhtar Donetsk - who will play their European home matches at Stamford Bridge this season - and Fenerbahce or Lyon.
Pot 4 is not yet finalised, but Slavia Prague, Stuttgart, LASK, Como, Lens and Sabah are confirmed. They will be joined by Slovan Bratislava or Celje, Dinamo Zagreb or Viking, and Levski Sofia or AEK Athens.
League phase matchdays
UEFA will confirm the exact kick-off times and dates for each matchday. The schedule runs from September 8-10, 2026 through January 27, 2026, with fixtures spread across eight matchdays in the autumn and winter.
