Three Liverpool players are at risk of a Champions League suspension as the Reds face Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes tonight. Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Curtis Jones have each accumulated two yellow cards in the competition this season, meaning a booking against PSG would rule them out of the potential quarter-final second leg.
Conor Bradley also carries two bookings but is sidelined for the remainder of the season with a knee injury sustained in early January. Competition regulations state that any player receiving three yellow cards from the league stage onwards will be suspended for the following match, with a reprieve only after the quarter-finals when yellow card totals are reset.
PSG also have two players on two yellow cards: Nuno Mendes and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are one booking away from missing the second leg at Anfield next Tuesday. If Van Dijk were suspended, Joe Gomez would likely partner Ibrahima Konate at centre-back, limiting his availability at right-back against threats like Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue.
Losing Gravenberch would be frustrating, as his deputy Wataru Endo is injured. A change would force Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister, or Dominik Szoboszlai to play a deeper midfield role. Liverpool aim to edge closer to the semi-finals tonight.
