Liverpool are monitoring Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, while former Reds defender Kyle Walker has suggested Trent Alexander-Arnold could make a Premier League return with a rival club.
The Reds are on a three-match winning run under Andoni Iraola after a controversial defeat to Manchester City, and are looking to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window. A 4-3 victory against Villarreal in the Champions League offered evidence of progress, following wins away at LASK and at Brentford, where Liverpool ended the Bees' long unbeaten home run.
Camara on Liverpool's radar
Romano has claimed Liverpool are "tracking" Camara, 22, who nearly joined Chelsea during the summer window. The Senegal international reportedly underwent a medical before the £47.1million transfer collapsed on deadline day.
The potential switch was linked to Folarin Balogun's failed move to Everton, with Monaco needing funds from player sales. Neither footballer secured a Premier League move and both stayed in France.
Camara addressed the situation last month, saying: "There was a possibility I could leave. It didn't go through at the last minute and that's part of football. I've turned the page and am focusing on the season."
Alexander-Arnold tipped for rival move
Walker, speaking on talkSPORT, suggested Alexander-Arnold could return to England's top flight, but questioned whether he would be welcomed back at Anfield given how his exit unfolded. "Can he go back to Liverpool with the way that he left? I'm not too sure," he said. "Do I see him at another club? He's got to go to one of the big ones. Manchester United [or] Man City [for example]."
Alexander-Arnold, 28, has struggled for playing time at Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho, competing with summer arrival Denzel Dumfries for a starting spot. A move to Manchester City appears unlikely given the club's ongoing Premier League financial rule violations, but United could benefit from his quality on the right flank.
Liverpool face Brighton on Sunday before hosting Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, with a two-week gap before their next Champions League outing.
