Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has criticised Mohamed Salah for his public comments about manager Arne Slot, stating that the winger has made the situation 'all about him'. Murphy spoke on Match of the Day after Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds United, where Salah was an unused substitute.
Salah gave an interview after the match expressing his frustration at being benched for the third time this season. The Egyptian claimed the club had 'thrown him under the bus' and suggested promises made to him in the summer had not been kept. He also hinted at a potential move away, refusing to rule out interest from the Saudi Pro League.
Murphy said: 'You can be angry, you can be frustrated, you can be emotional. He's done wonderful things for the football club. You have to keep it in the four walls of the club. By doing what he's done, he's causing the manager and the team a problem and he's making it all about him. You just can't do it.'
The criticism comes amid ongoing speculation over Salah's future at Anfield, with the January transfer window approaching. The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but no deal has been finalised.
