Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo in the January transfer window amid concerns over Mohamed Salah's form. The Egyptian has scored just three goals in 11 appearances this season and has not netted a non-penalty league goal since the opening day in August.
Semenyo has been one of the Premier League's standout performers this term, scoring six times in eight games. The 25-year-old Ghanaian signed a new five-year contract in July, which reportedly includes a release clause, though the figure is unknown.
Bournemouth are believed to value Semenyo at around £75m, a price that deterred both Manchester United and Tottenham during the summer. Liverpool, who have strong links with the Cherries via sporting director Richard Hughes, could now join the race.
The Reds are enduring a four-match losing streak, and with Salah set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, Liverpool may accelerate their succession planning. Semenyo, crucially, will not be required at AFCON after Ghana failed to qualify.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has played down the speculation, stating he is focused on Semenyo maintaining his form. The Cherries have previously sold key players to Liverpool, including Milos Kerkez, and may be open to negotiations.
