Liverpool have completed the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola for a fee that could rise to £85m, making the 23-year-old the most expensive player in the club's history.
The French international has agreed a five-year contract at Anfield, with the deal including add-ons that could take the total transfer fee to £85m. Barcola becomes Liverpool's second major signing of the summer following the arrival of midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich.
Barcola's rise at PSG
Barcola joined PSG from Lyon in 2023 for a fee of €45m and went on to score 22 goals in 85 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions. The winger, who has won 15 caps for France, was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
The 23-year-old is expected to provide competition for Liverpool's existing wide options, including Mohamed Salah and Luis Díaz, as the club looks to challenge for the Premier League title under new head coach Arne Slot.
Transfer record and reaction
The fee surpasses the £77.5m Liverpool paid to sign Darwin Núñez from Benfica in 2022, making Barcola the club's record signing. The deal has been structured with an initial payment of £70m, with the remaining £15m in performance-related add-ons.
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes said: "We are delighted to bring Bradley to the club. He is a player we have admired for a long time and we believe he will add a new dimension to our attack."
Barcola will wear the number 10 shirt at Anfield, previously worn by Sadio Mané and, most recently, by departing midfielder Philippe Coutinho. The winger is expected to be available for Liverpool's next Premier League fixture against Brighton on Saturday.
