Liverpool are set to intensify their pursuit of new signings following a 4-2 friendly defeat to Leeds United, with talks over PSG winger Bradley Barcola expected to progress this week.
Barcola talks to continue
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that fresh dialogue between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain is planned. Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: "New contacts [will be] prepared between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain."
Reports suggest Barcola is keen on a move to Anfield despite interest from Arsenal. Romano added that "conversations will continue next week," though he stressed no deal is imminent. PSG are reportedly asking for around £145m for the French international, but Liverpool are believed to want to significantly reduce that price.
Gakpo interest from Spurs
Tottenham are reportedly interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, though the Reds are hesitant to let the Dutchman go. Sky Sports suggests Liverpool would only agree to his exit if a suitable replacement is secured. The Netherlands international has four years left on his contract, with talkSPORT suggesting Liverpool would command around £70m.
Gakpo featured in 52 matches last season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists. If he departs without a replacement, Liverpool would rely on young talent Rio Ngumoha and new recruit Victor Munoz on the flanks. Spurs have spent £237m this summer, with manager Roberto De Zerbi saying: "The transfer market, it's not finished for sure, but we completed 60 per cent of our project in the transfer market. Now we have another bomba!"
Gakpo arrived at Liverpool in January 2023 from PSV Eindhoven for roughly £37m, making 180 appearances with 50 goals and 23 assists, including contributing to the Premier League title success in 2025.
