Liverpool Set to Launch £65m Bid for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi

Liverpool are preparing to make a significant offer for Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi, according to reports. The Premier League champions are in the market for a new defender as Jarell Quansah is set to join Bayer Leverkusen in a £30 million deal, while Ibrahima Konate’s contract expires in 12 months.

The Telegraph reports that Liverpool are now in the ‘best position’ to sign Guehi, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle United. Palace rejected a £70m offer from Spurs for Guehi in January, while Newcastle saw four bids, the highest at £65m, turned down last summer.

However, Palace’s negotiating position has weakened as Guehi has just one year remaining on his contract, meaning they risk losing him on a free transfer next year. The club are already in talks with Sporting CP to sign 21-year-old centre-back Ousmane Diomande as a replacement.

Speaking about his future before Palace’s FA Cup final victory over Manchester City, Guehi said: ‘I think the most important thing is just always doing the best that I can for this football club. I come in every day and I try to be the same. I’m still under contract at this football club, so my focus is always at this football club.’
