Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has handed a significant fitness boost to manager Arne Slot after declaring himself ready to play a full 90 minutes. The Swedish international, who joined the Reds in a British record transfer from Newcastle United in the summer, has been gradually building up his match fitness after a disrupted pre-season.

Isak has yet to complete a full match for his new side, with his longest outing being 57 minutes in Liverpool's 3-2 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid. However, speaking ahead of Sweden's World Cup qualifier against Switzerland on Friday, the striker expressed confidence in his condition.

“Tomorrow I am ready for 90 minutes if needed,” Isak told reporters. “It has been a month now. I have gotten a lot more playing time, and things have calmed down. I feel in a much better position now than last time.”

Isak has made six appearances for Liverpool across all competitions, scoring his only goal so far in the League Cup victory over Southampton. The 24-year-old also reflected positively on his first month at Anfield, citing the strong bond between the team and its supporters.

“A great team and a city where the team has a good relationship with the fans. It has been great so far,” he added. With Isak now fully fit, Slot will have a crucial attacking option available as Liverpool continue their Premier League title defence.
