Thomas Frank Plays Down Liverpool Job Speculation, Insists Commitment to Brentford

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has downplayed rumours linking him with the vacant managerial position at Liverpool, insisting he is content at the West London club. The Dane has been touted as a potential successor to Jurgen Klopp, who will leave Anfield at the end of the season, but Frank stressed his focus remains on Brentford.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Frank acknowledged the flattery of being linked with one of the Premier League's biggest jobs but made clear his immediate priorities. “There’s a lot rumours out there. I think we all have kind of an ego and the ego likes that little bit of sugar but at the end of the day I’m at Brentford. I’m very happy here,” he said. “Do I have ambitions? Yes. Am I going to stay at Brentford forever? Maybe but probably not. So who knows what’s going to happen in the future. What I know is that I’m here at Brentford and I’m very happy with it.”

Frank's comments echo similar sentiments he expressed to Danish outlet Tipsbladet last week, where he reiterated his admiration for Liverpool but emphasised his commitment to guiding Brentford through a challenging campaign. The Bees, who secured a 13th-placed finish in their debut Premier League season and improved to ninth last term, have endured a dip in form this year.

Xabi Alonso, who has led Bayer Leverkusen to the top of the Bundesliga, remains the frontrunner to replace Klopp. Should Liverpool fail to secure the Spaniard, Frank is considered a potential alternative. Klopp himself has praised Frank's work, calling Brentford a “super difficult opponent” and noting their tactical prowess, particularly from set-pieces.

Frank's immediate focus is on finishing the season strongly with Brentford, with no decision made on his long-term future. “I understand that we need some good performances and to win some football matches, and that’s my main focus right now,” he added.
