Liverpool have been dealt a significant blow with the news that Ibrahima Konate is set to leave the club on a free transfer this summer after contract negotiations broke down. The French centre-half, who made 183 appearances and won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, will be difficult to replace.
In response, Liverpool are reportedly exploring options to fill the void. One target is Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, who has impressed since joining from Torino in 2022. The Brazilian, 29, is available for around £34.5 million and has scored 12 goals for Juventus, including four this season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are 'going all out' to secure RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to Sky Deutschland. The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international has been on the Reds' radar for some time and is seen as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. However, Leipzig are holding out for approximately £87 million and are keen to tie Diomande down to a new deal beyond 2030.
Diomande acknowledged interest from Liverpool and other top clubs, saying: "Yeah, I heard. But I don't know if it's going to be okay for everyone to pay that." He added: "It would be a good idea to play for big clubs." Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are also in the race.
Liverpool face a race against time to complete the deal before the World Cup begins on June 11. The club's summer agenda has been further complicated by ongoing discussions about Arne Slot's future and the need to replace departing legends.
