Liverpool's need to replace Mohamed Salah remains unfilled, but progress was made last week after Bradley Barcola refused to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The 23-year-old France international, who scored three goals in the World Cup semi-finals, is valued at £140m by PSG. However, Liverpool are unwilling to match that price and have yet to open talks.
Left-wing competition
If Barcola arrives, he would likely operate on the right, leaving the left wing as a three-way battle between Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, and Victor Munoz. Gakpo may be senior but is less suited to Andoni Iraola's high-pressing style. Ngumoha, 17, is considered too young for a starting role, with the club managing his load. Munoz, signed for £34m last month, could become the starter after winning the World Cup with Spain.
Munoz is versatile across the front three, having played 18 games on the left, 10 on the right, and four up front for Osasuna last season.
Alexander Isak's revival
Alexander Isak, signed for £125m last year, had a dismal first season with four goals in 22 games due to fitness issues. After scoring at the World Cup, he is expected to perform better and be like a new signing for Iraola.
