Liverpool have established contact with Lamine Camara's representatives after Chelsea became the leading contenders in the pursuit of Alex Scott. Monaco midfielder Camara came close to joining Chelsea during the summer transfer window before the deal collapsed.
Failed Chelsea Move
The midfielder was poised to move to the Blues for £47million and sign a six-year contract. But in a dramatic twist, Monaco notified Chelsea that Camara would not be departing shortly before the deadline.
Now Liverpool are seeking to capitalise, as The Sun report that Anfield officials have requested to be informed of any developments concerning the 22-year-old's situation. Camara has enjoyed a strong beginning to his third campaign with Monaco and a January transfer cannot be discounted.
Manager's Praise
In August, after a 1-0 victory against Le Harve, Monaco manager Filipe Luis praised: "From everything that I saw, there is one thing that caught my eye. I have never seen that in 20 years; it's Lamine Camara."
"He is a 'different' player from what I've seen so far. His ability to manage things on the pitch and his concentration. He has a level that is way, way above average."
Luis also told L'Equipe: "In twenty years' time, we may well see plenty of players like him. He can run a marathon, play for 90 minutes without ever letting up while playing football. He embodies the future of the game."
Mac Allister Uncertainty
The midfield is poised to become a key focus for Liverpool following substantial summer investment in their attacking ranks alongside the acquisition of three defenders. Alexis Mac Allister's uncertain future may also factor into Andoni Iraola's thinking.
Mac Allister, 27, is reportedly dissatisfied at not receiving a fresh contract offer, with his existing agreement running until 2028. An exit next summer might suit all concerned, as Liverpool would otherwise face losing the Argentine without a fee the subsequent year.
