Liverpool will travel to Newcastle United for Andoni Iraola's first game in charge on the opening weekend of the Premier League season. The Reds head to the north east for a Sunday 4.30pm kick-off broadcast live on television as they aim to re-enter title contention under their new manager.
Early Season Fixtures
Nottingham Forest visit Anfield for Liverpool's first home match of the season the following weekend. The Reds face blockbuster home games against Manchester City on October 10 and Arsenal on October 31. Manchester United travel to Anfield on November 21, followed by the first Merseyside derby of the season at Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium on November 28.
The return fixtures at Old Trafford and Anfield against Liverpool's biggest rivals are scheduled for January 23 and January 30 respectively. All matches after the opening day are subject to change for television selections.
New Era Under Iraola
The hope at Anfield is that Iraola can oversee a significantly better campaign following a disastrous title defence under Arne Slot, who lost his job in the off-season. Despite winning the Premier League title in the Dutchman's maiden season, Liverpool lost 12 of their 38 games and finished fifth in the standings, just one place and three points ahead of Iraola's former club Bournemouth.
It is a new era in more ways than one, with long-term talisman Mohamed Salah no longer at the club. The attacker announced in the final weeks of the 2024-25 campaign that he would leave Liverpool this summer. The club have already strengthened in attack, signing Victor Munoz while also pursuing a blockbuster deal for Yan Diomande.
