Luke Littler has hit back at darts coach Andy Cornwall, branding him an 'absolute helmet' after Cornwall criticised the 18-year-old's decision to compete in the World Youth Championship. Littler, who lost in the semi-finals to Beau Greaves, defended his participation and dismissed Cornwall's comments as unwarranted.
Cornwall, a former PDC Tour Card holder, had called Littler's appearance 'ridiculous' on the Mission Darts Podcast, suggesting the world champion was taking opportunities away from younger players. 'It was a bit like, look at me, look at me, everything is about me,' Cornwall said.
Littler responded on Instagram, where he has nearly two million followers, saying: 'Andy Cornwall... what an absolute helmet of a bloke and I don't know him.' He also noted that other tour card holders, such as Gian van Veen and Keane Barry, competed without similar criticism.
Cornwall also criticised Stephen Bunting's stance at the oche, claiming it prevents him from winning multiple majors. Littler, who has already won the PDC World Championship, remains focused on his career and dismissed the criticism as irrelevant.
