Liam Cullen is on the verge of leaving Swansea City, with Leicester City in advanced talks over a permanent move.
Nothing has been agreed yet between the two clubs, but there is confidence on both sides that the deal will be completed.
If he joins the Foxes, Cullen will be reunited with former boss Russell Martin, under whom he played for two years before Martin left for Southampton.
Previous interest and career at Swansea
Cullen has come close to leaving the Swans before. Oxford United were keen on the final day of the summer transfer window in 2024, but he stayed.
The fee is unclear at this stage, but the move would end Cullen's long association with his boyhood club. The 27-year-old, who has two years left on his current deal, made his senior debut in 2018 in an EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace. He has since made 207 appearances for Swansea, scoring 37 goals. He also has 15 caps for Wales, netting two goals.
Defence from Vitor Matos
Despite his loyalty, Cullen has faced criticism, especially on social media. Towards the end of last season, Vitor Matos launched a passionate defence of the forward. Matos said: "Liam is someone from the club and as a club, we need to take care of our own. There's a song that the fans sing, no? And they sing it for Sam [Parker, against Middlesbrough], that was unbelievable. We need to take care of these players because they are the soul and heart of the club."
