Vincent Kompany was taken to hospital from Bayern Munich's training ground on Friday, according to reports in Germany.
The Bayern Munich head coach had been dealing with a viral infection and was a doubt to be on the touchline for the Champions League game against Arsenal on Wednesday evening after missing the final training session the day before.
Kompany's Health Struggles
Kompany was in the dugout for the match and spoke after Bayern's 2-2 draw with Arsenal, saying: 'I'm doing better. It's a normal human thing.'
'As a coach, you want to do everything by yourself. I caught a pretty nasty virus last week. I didn't listen to my body, and at some point my body told me: 'Stop now, man!'. That was it. Now I'm feeling better, otherwise I wouldn't be here.'
However, Bild reported that Kompany was taken to a Munich hospital on Friday, with an air ambulance landing at the German club's training ground.
Details of the Incident
Bild reports that Kompany's viral infection has caused problems with old scar tissue, making it difficult for him to climb stairs.
'It has affected his legs at times and he's felt some pain,' Bayern's assistant coach, Aaron Danks, said on Tuesday. 'It's just a virus. The doctors, the experts, know way more than I do. The most important thing we've just encouraged is that he rests, he takes the time he needs, whatever that may be, however long that may be.'
'Whether that's tomorrow or whether that's two, three days' time, I don't know at this moment. Getting Vince to rest is a challenge.'
