Jurgen Klopp has returned to the UK ahead of Saturday's Liverpool Legends vs Borussia Dortmund Legends charity match at Anfield. The former Reds manager landed at Manchester Airport on Thursday afternoon and expressed his excitement about the reunion with his former clubs.
In a video posted on Instagram, Klopp said: 'Hi guys, we are back. From Manchester to Liverpool. My favourite direction actually. I'm looking forward to the next three days, with the highlight being the Legends game between Liverpool and Dortmund, my two former clubs.'
The LFC Foundation charity match kicks off at 3pm on Saturday, featuring former stars such as Steven Gerrard, Thiago Alcantara, Pepe Reina and Peter Crouch. The Liverpool legends will be managed by Sir Kenny Dalglish, with Klopp, Ian Rush and John Aldridge assisting.
Klopp stepped down as Liverpool manager in summer 2024 after nearly nine years, during which he won the Champions League and Premier League. Since January 2025, he has served as Red Bull's global head of soccer. Despite speculation linking him to Real Madrid after Xabi Alonso's departure, Klopp dismissed the rumours as 'nonsense', stating: 'If Real Madrid had phoned, we would have heard about it by now.'
