Kimmich misses Bayern training before Arsenal clash

Joshua Kimmich was absent from Bayern Munich's training session on Tuesday, but reports in Germany claim this was due to private reasons and he is expected to start at the Allianz Arena against Arsenal in the Champions League.

The Gunners travel to Germany on Wednesday night for their third match of this season's league phase, having made a perfect start in Europe with wins over Napoli and Lille. Arsenal secured a 1-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest at the weekend ahead of the trip.

Neuer Fit, Olise Suspended

Captain Manuel Neuer is expected to be fit after taking part in Tuesday afternoon's training session. Neuer did not play in the 6-1 thrashing of RB Leipzig at the weekend because of an ongoing foot problem, but he is expected to be back in goal for the visit of Arsenal.

In an early boost for Arsenal, they will not come up against Michael Olise, who was sent off in Bayern's 3-3 draw against Viking. The France international was booked for a cynical pull of the shirt and then immediately earned a second yellow card for throwing the ball in the face of a Viking player.

"It was our own fault," Vincent Kompany said of the dismissal. "This red card was super dumb... you can see in [Olise's] eyes that he's sorry about it and that he regrets letting the team down." As a result, Olise must serve a one-game ban and will not be available against Arsenal.

Musiala Set to Miss Out

Jamal Musiala, however, has not featured since withdrawing from international duty after sustaining a torn muscle fiber in his right thigh while warming up for Germany's Nations League clash against the Netherlands last month. The attacking midfielder was not spotted in training on Tuesday and is therefore set to be unavailable for selection against the Gunners.

Kimmich, a scorer in the 2023-24 quarter-final win over Arsenal, was not present in the session either, but the reports suggest he will be available for the clash.
