Kevin Keegan Tribute: Special Souvenir Edition Released
Kevin Keegan Tribute: Special Souvenir Edition

A special souvenir tribute to Kevin Keegan, Britain’s only multi-Ballon d’Or winner, is now available. The edition celebrates his legendary career as a player for Liverpool, Hamburg, Southampton, and Newcastle United, as well as his managerial stints at Newcastle, Fulham, Manchester City, and England.

Playing career highlights

Keegan began his professional career as an unknown £33,000 signing from Scunthorpe United to Liverpool. He became the key figure as the Reds dominated British football in the 1970s, inspiring a global fanbase. He later left his Anfield comfort zone to play for SV Hamburg in Germany, where he won European Footballer of the Year twice despite initial skepticism from teammates.

He then moved to Southampton, helping the club push for the league title with an exciting style of play. His final playing chapter was at Newcastle United, where he became a beloved figure in the north-east.

Managerial achievements

Keegan returned to Newcastle as manager, forming what many consider the club’s greatest team—nicknamed “The Entertainers”—featuring players like Ginola, Ferdinand, Beardsley, Asprilla, and Shearer. Though he did not win the Premier League as a manager, he achieved promotions and league titles in his first season at Newcastle, Fulham, and Manchester City—a unique feat in English football.

His 20-month reign as England manager was less stellar, but his impact on the clubs he managed was significant.
