Kelly Cates has been confirmed as one of the new presenters of Match of the Day, sharing duties with Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan from next season. The 49-year-old broadcaster is the daughter of Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish.
Cates began her career on Channel 4's Millennium special of The Big Breakfast, before joining Sky Sports News. She has since worked with ESPN, ITV, STV and Channel 5, returning to Sky Sports in 2016 to present EFL coverage and later Premier League matches.
She married Tom Cates in 2017 but they separated in 2021, having two daughters together. Cates has spoken about her dating fears, telling Gabby Logan's podcast: 'I don't have a picture in my head of why a middle-aged, slightly overweight mother of two could possibly be attractive.'
Her father, Sir Kenny Dalglish, is a Liverpool icon with 170 goals and 186 assists in 511 appearances. Cates has said she was discouraged from mingling with footballers as a teenager when her father was manager.
According to reports, Cates has an estimated net worth of around £7.9 million, bolstered by brand deals and investments.
