Keely Hodgkinson has been pictured at Manchester United's Carrington training ground, and Sky Sports has suggested that "something is coming" after the image went viral.
The Team GB middle-distance runner, who was born and raised in Manchester, is a devoted Red Devils supporter. She shares a closer bond with the club than most after attending school with women's team star Ella Toone.
Childhood Friends Reunited
The Paris gold medallist was photographed alongside Toone, with the pair forming a strong friendship during their school days despite the footballer being two years older.
Speaking about their relationship in 2022, Hodgkinson said: "We are just two young girls living their dreams. Ella and I went to school together. She was two years older but somehow we ended up getting on really well."
"I was always referred to as the 'mini Ella' growing up at school. So we kept in touch from that and she was in Tokyo last year as well. We are just two young girls living their dreams."
Derby Preview Appearance
The reason for her visit soon became clear as she featured on Sky Sports' Minus 1 to preview the upcoming Manchester derby. In the social video, the childhood friends reunite at Carrington to compare their preparations, from massages to dressing room nerves.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Toone said: "It was so nice to catch up with Keely again and show her what a day in a life looks like for me. There are obvious similarities in preparation, but you can see just how tough it can be working as an individual versus being a part of a team."
"Hopefully the series will allow fans to see all the unseen little moments that go into making us shine on the pitch."
