Harry Kane has revealed what Thomas Tuchel said at half-time to spark England's majestic transformation in the second period. The Three Lions came away 4-2 winners over Croatia after twice letting a lead slip in the opening half.
Tuchel's Half-Time Message
Such was the turnaround in performance, Gary Neville suggested that "Tuchel has given them an absolute rocket at half-time. They were blasted." But, while the German coach undoubtedly outlined his demands, it appears he gave the team a sense of freedom too.
England captain Kane detailed his boss's words. "He just said if we lose, we lose, but don't be afraid and if we lose, we lose our way," he said following the match.
"It was a really good second half. Some of the things they did in the first ten minutes of the second half was fantastic."
Improved Intensity
Kane also highlighted the team's aggressive approach without the ball. "I think without the ball we went more aggressive. It was difficult; they've got great players. When Luka is dropping in and you're trying to figure out who to pick up. In the second half we've got that extra gas and if we see a man in front we go. Just the intensity we went at, I think that's our biggest strength."
The victory marked a strong start for England in the World Cup, with goals from Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, and Marcus Rashford securing the win.
