Kane marks Ballon d'Or win with champagne-fuelled London party

Harry Kane marked winning the Ballon d'Or with a lavish celebration at Cirque Le Soir in Soho, where he did shots as gold champagne bottles with sparklers were carried to him through the crowd.

The England and Bayern Munich striker was crowned the world's best player at the ceremony at the London Palladium on Sunday night, becoming the fifth English player to receive the award and the first since Michael Owen in 2001.

Kane is also only the fourth Bayern player to win the Ballon d'Or while at the German club, following Gerd Muller, Franz Beckenbauer and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. He beat Real Madrid and Barcelona stars Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal to the honour.

Nightclub celebration with family and former teammates

The 33-year-old Londoner headed to the nightclub with his family and friends, lifting the trophy in the air as his entourage arrived. He was filmed alongside his wife Kate and brother Charlie before the DJ gave him a shoutout.

Former Tottenham teammates Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Matt Doherty joined the celebration and were seen on the dancefloor.

Emotional acceptance speech

After receiving the award, Kane said: "I'm almost speechless, luckily I have this list. First of all thank you to French football, the Ballon d'Or this amazing event being in London as well looked a good omen for me so thank you very much."

He thanked those who voted for him, his Bayern Munich teammates, and Vincent Kompany, saying: "Vincent [Kompany], I know he's at home, still in the hospital so wishing him very well. Hope this has given you a bit of energy."

Kane also addressed his England teammates, saying: "To all of my England team-mates, Bukayo [Saka]'s here representing England and, again just saying, we had a special year. It wasn't a perfect year but we had a lot of good moments, built a great bond together."

He added: "To represent the England badge the way you do." Kane partied into the early hours with the trophy before the celebrations drew to a close.
