Kane and Bischof praise Arsenal after 2-2 Champions League draw

Harry Kane described Arsenal as a “good physical team” after Bayern Munich and the Gunners played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Champions League league phase at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

Kane scored one goal and assisted Alphonso Davies for Bayern’s other strike, but two of his England team-mates ensured the points were shared. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for Arsenal before Declan Rice equalised in the 82nd minute.

Kane reflects on a fair result

Reflecting on the draw, the England captain praised Arsenal and felt the result was fair on the balance of play.

“I thought it was a good performance,” he told DAZN. “I think for large spells of the game, especially the start of the second half, we had a real intensity. We looked dangerous, we got the goal and we had a moment to kill the game off.”

“We had the momentum, they looked tired, but then we got caught in a low block for final 15 minutes and they punished us with the goal,” Kane added. “The draw was probably a fair result overall. I think we could have been a bit more clinical in the final third. But there are a lot of games, we’ve got a lot of players with injuries who are missing tonight. In the end, we’ll take the point and move on.”

Bischof echoes praise for the Gunners

Kane’s team-mate Tom Bischof, who replaced Joshua Kimmich, was similarly full of praise for Arsenal.

“When you take the lead late, it's disappointing to not take three points,” he said. “We had good phases in the second half, settled in up front, but Arsenal are a good team. They applied pressure and got their goal.”

“This wasn’t just any opponent. We maybe needed to be a little more disruptive and annoying in the challenges as we as clever.”

The draw leaves Bayern and Arsenal level on points in the league phase, with both sides taking a point from a competitive encounter.
