Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has made it clear he will not "smash the locker room" after lifting a trophy in his first game as boss.
The German head coach led his new Toon team to a 2-1 win over Valencia to win the Trofeu Taronja in the home club's annual pre-season tournament.
Team photo tradition
It remains to be seen whether Jaissle persists with Newcastle celebrating every win with a team picture in the dressing room, something that continued after Eddie Howe's first win over Burnley and continued up until his last ever victory against West Ham.
When asked about team photos, Jaissle told Chronicle Live: "They did what sorry? I don't know about that, to be honest."
"I'll think about it if it happens. This was a friendly today. We will not smash the locker room down and celebrate a lot."
"We are quite balanced we know what it is about, it's pre-season, we still have a lot to do."
Balanced approach
When asked about whether small moments will still be important on the journey ahead, Jaissle said: "It's just the journey. We don't want to hang victories higher than they are. But also we don't want to place losses lower than they should be."
"We should be quite balanced with our approach, analyse the situation as it is, and we will be better from there. That is what we are going to do."
"Next week there are things we need to work on definitely. But again to summarise, we did well in the camp and the friendly win."
Elanga injury scare
Malick Thiaw lifted the trophy after the slender win over the La Liga side and a photo pitch side was obligatory given the festivities at the Mestalla.
But the night threatened to turn sour when Anthony Elanga was stretchered off following a horror challenge in the first half.
Speaking on the tackle and moment, Jaissle said: "It was a shocking challenge, that’s right. I was in fear, definitely."
"But now I’m more relaxed because the medical department are almost showing green lights that it’s nothing serious. We are blessed. Hopefully, he can be back in the next week."
