Jaissle eyes transfer boost after Newcastle £130m alignment

Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has indicated that the transfer alignment behind signings such as Amar Dedic and Nico Gonzalez is set to continue after the club appointed Tomas Amaral as head of recruitment.

Jaissle took over on August 5 and expressed a wish to sign his former Red Bull Salzburg full-back Dedic. He was also pleased to land Gonzalez from Manchester City and Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille as Newcastle spent £130m during the summer window.

New recruitment chief arrives

Amaral joins with an impressive CV after stints at Benfica and Spartak Moscow. His prized signing in Lisbon was Enzo Fernandez, who moved to Manchester City for £125m this summer.

Asked about working with Amaral, Jaissle said: "It's always good to improve things and Ross [Wilson] is the responsible guy and leading that department. It's always good for experts to have fresh energy and we're looking forward to working together."

Clear alignment expected

Jaissle added: "Like it was in the last couple of days in the [summer] transfer window, it's a pure and clear alignment between everyone involved. As a coach, you thrive for high expectations when it comes to signings."

Speaking after his appointment, Amaral said: "It is with great pride and a strong sense of responsibility that I join Newcastle United, a historic club with passionate supporters who have high expectations and ambitions."

He continued: "From my very first conversations with Ross Wilson, I immediately understood the vision and the direction the club wants to take over the coming years. I strongly share the ideas and ambitions of the people at the club, and I am determined to play my part in contributing to Newcastle United's success."

Amaral added: "I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and getting started at a club with such high standards."
