Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has indicated that Dominik Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz could be available for Sunday's Premier League match against Arsenal at Anfield. Both players have been absent since Liverpool's 2-1 win away to Brentford earlier this month.
Pair closing in on return
Iraola's side have won all three games without the duo, but their return would add attacking options when the league leaders host an Arsenal team dealing with its own injury issues. Asked about Szoboszlai and Munoz, Iraola said: "I think they have a chance. But I don't know for sure if they will be involved or not. We still have two days, so I think they have a chance, yes."
Liverpool will be without Jeremie Frimpong until after the November international break. Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike remain sidelined with long-term injuries.
Arsenal injury news
Arsenal have received positive news on their own front, with Mikel Arteta confirming that Riccardo Calafiori, Declan Rice and Christos Tzolis have returned to training. On Noni Madueke's availability, Arteta said: "We don't know yet. We have a training session tomorrow, let's see if he can complete the full session. After that, we will know if he's available."
Arsenal lost at Anfield last season, with Szoboszlai scoring the only goal from a free-kick. The Gunners went on to win the title, while Liverpool finished fifth and sacked Arne Slot.
Iraola eyes Anfield advantage
After an unconvincing start to the season, Iraola is on a five-game winning streak, with the last three coming at home. He wants to use Anfield to his team's advantage, saying: "At Anfield everyone feels when the team goes for it, when everyone is giving everything, when everyone is trying his best, our supporters will be there to help the team. Even when we've started losing in some of the last games they have been there and have helped massively."
He added: "The other day against Chelsea, I thought the atmosphere was really, really good. It's nice to recover and feel these things at home as we have a big advantage over other teams because this atmosphere we can create is special."
