Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement for Igor Tudor to take over as interim manager until the end of the season, following the dismissal of Thomas Frank. The former Juventus defender, who has been out of work since leaving the Serie A club in October, is tasked with steering Spurs away from relegation danger.
The club considered several candidates, including Edin Terzic and Marco Rose, before turning to Tudor. His appointment is seen as a short-term measure, with Spurs keen to keep the door open for Mauricio Pochettino to return in the summer. Pochettino, currently set to manage the USA at the World Cup, remains a fan favourite and could be available after the tournament.
Tudor faces a challenging start, with Tottenham just five points above the relegation zone ahead of a home match against Arsenal. He will also contend with a lengthy injury list that includes James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Wilson Odobert, as well as captain Cristian Romero's suspension.
The 47-year-old has previously managed clubs such as Hajduk Split, Marseille, and Lazio. His immediate task is to lift the mood in the dressing room and calm unrest among supporters. Spurs hope Tudor can make an instant impact, with a potential permanent role available if he proves successful.
