Thierry Henry has urged Arsenal to accept their status as Premier League title favourites after the club ended a 22-year wait for the championship. The Gunners secured the league crown on Tuesday evening when Manchester City failed to beat Bournemouth, leaving Arsenal unassailable at the top of the table.
Henry, a key member of the 2003-04 'Invincibles' side that went unbeaten all season, took to Instagram to celebrate. 'From Highbury seats to the Emirates - Arsenal Nation, finally we can celebrate,' he wrote. 'Special thanks to this generation - finally now my kids saw us winning a title.'
Manager Mikel Arteta told his players they had 'made history again, together' and urged them to enjoy the moment. Arsenal will be presented with the trophy after their final match against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Attention now turns to the Champions League final against holders Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest on May 30, where Arsenal can complete a historic double. Henry believes the team must now embrace the pressure of being favourites in major competitions.
