Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink exits Strictly after calling Craig Revel Horwood 'ruthless'

Former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has become the latest celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing, losing a dance-off against Amber Davies in week five. The 53-year-old had earlier admitted to concerns about Latin dances and described judge Craig Revel Horwood as 'ruthless'.

Speaking before his elimination, Hasselbaink told OLBG.com: 'Latin dances... yeah, those are going to be tough!' He added: 'Well, we know how ruthless Craig Revel Horwood can be, so hopefully I can get myself into his good books!' However, all four judges favoured Amber during Sunday's tense dance-off.

Reflecting on his time on the show, Hasselbaink said: 'I have absolutely loved my experience. I never expected that I would enjoy it this much.' He thanked his daughters for pushing him to take part and praised dance partner Lauren Oakley as 'a diamond'.

Lauren Oakley said she was 'absolutely gutted' the partnership had ended. She added: 'It proves that anyone can be a dancer if you put your mind to it. He's a footballer! And he just danced like that. I feel honoured to have been able to teach you.'

The ten remaining couples will return for a Halloween special next weekend. Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
