Former Premier League striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has revealed his family have delivered a brutal red card to his dancing ambitions, banning him from ever appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
The Chelsea legend, known for his clinical finishing on the pitch, has been told his moves off it are anything but professional after his family witnessed his attempts at dancing around their home.
"You Cannot Dance" - Family Verdict
Hasselbaink confessed during an appearance on talkSPORT that his loved ones have been brutally honest about his rhythm, or lack thereof. "My family have said, 'You cannot dance, don't you dare go on Strictly!'" the 52-year-old revealed.
The Dutch football pundit admitted that while he enjoys watching the popular BBC competition, his own dancing is strictly for private moments. "I dance at home, but my family say, 'No, no, no, you're not going on there!'"
From Football Glory to Dancing Disaster
Despite winning two Premier League Golden Boots during his illustrious career and scoring over 150 professional goals, Hasselbaink's footwork appears to be limited to the football pitch.
The former Netherlands international, who enjoyed successful spells at Leeds United, Chelsea, and Middlesbrough, acknowledged that his dancing skills wouldn't earn him any glitterballs. His family's intervention has spared him potential embarrassment on national television.
Strictly's Football Connection
Strictly Come Dancing has featured several football personalities over the years, including:
- Peter Schmeichel
- Robbie Savage
- David James
- Tony Adams
However, it seems Hasselbaink won't be joining this particular hall of fame anytime soon, thanks to his family's strict ruling on his dancing abilities.
The football star took the family verdict in good spirits, showing the same good humour that has made him a popular pundit since retiring from professional football.
