Leading jockey Harry Cobden has revealed the three horses he is most excited to ride in the upcoming National Hunt season. The 26-year-old, who celebrated his 1,000th career win at Market Rasen on Tuesday, singled out Kalif Du Berlais, Caldwell Potter and Regent's Stroll as his top prospects.
Kalif Du Berlais, owned in part by Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson, won the Maghull Novices' Chase at Aintree in April. Cobden told Mirror Racing: 'I'm really excited about him this year. Physically he feels like he has improved a lot and the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter could be his starting point.'
Caldwell Potter, purchased for £632,000 in February 2024, has already recouped £135,000 with a Grade One double at Cheltenham and Aintree. The grey is being aimed at the highest level, with Cobden adding: 'We will have to see if Caldwell Potter can reach that standard' of Gold Cup contender.
Regent's Stroll, bought for £660,000, is set to go chasing this season. 'He came right at Aintree and I think he is going to improve dramatically for fences,' Cobden said. 'He's a big chasing type who I think could be top class. He has schooled well.'
Cobden's milestone 1,000th winner came aboard Indemnity, trained by Emma Lavelle, at Market Rasen on Tuesday. The 5-4 favourite won by nearly two lengths.
