Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been making headlines after a frustrating Miami Grand Prix, where he finished sixth and missed the podium. The British driver, now level on points with reigning champion Lando Norris in the standings, has expressed dissatisfaction with Ferrari's simulator and called for an investigation into the team's performance.
Hamilton's Simulator Concerns
Following a weekend to forget in Miami, Hamilton shared his reservations about Ferrari's simulator. He qualified sixth, three places behind teammate Charles Leclerc, though he finished two places higher after Leclerc received a 20-second penalty. Hamilton stated, "I don't like simulators in general, but I'm at the simulator every week in the build-up to this race and working on correlation constantly. You go on it, you prepare for the track, you drive it and you get the car set-up to a certain place - and then you come to the track and that set-up doesn't work."
The 41-year-old hinted at a change of approach, adding, "I'm not going to go on the simulator between now and the next race. I'll still go and hold meetings at the factory and stuff - but I'm just going to back away from it for a little bit and see. When we went to China I had the best weekend without the sim."
Call for Ferrari Investigation
Hamilton has also urged his team to investigate whether there is room for improvement, particularly focusing on the front wing design. He noted that rivals like Mercedes, McLaren, and Red Bull are using a different front wing configuration. "Just look at everyone else's wing and look at ours, you'll see it looks different. I don't know if that's necessarily the whole thing, but I wonder what that's doing, because others seem to have it and they improved," he said.
The Miami Grand Prix saw Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri join Kimi Antonelli on the podium, as the F1 season resumed after cancellations in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Hamilton secured his first top-three finish as a Ferrari driver in March but has since recorded two consecutive sixth-place finishes. The next race is the Canadian Grand Prix in over a fortnight.
