Jack Grealish's long-term future at Manchester City is increasingly uncertain after he was omitted from the squad for the club's final Premier League match against Fulham. The 29-year-old winger has started just seven league games this season, with only one of those coming in 2025, and has been an unused substitute in the FA Cup final defeat by Crystal Palace.
Grealish has contributed three goals and five assists in 32 appearances across all competitions, but has struggled to secure regular game time under Pep Guardiola, who has preferred Jeremy Doku, Savinho, Phil Foden or Omar Marmoush on the left wing. The England international's marginalisation was highlighted when Guardiola brought on 19-year-old Claudio Echeverri instead of Grealish at Wembley.
Guardiola admitted he has not discussed the situation with Grealish, saying: "We didn't talk, I didn't talk with him." The City manager has also expressed a desire to work with a smaller squad next season, stating: "I don't want to leave five or six players in the freezer. I don't want that. I will quit. Make a shorter squad, I will stay."
Grealish is expected to hold talks with City's directors of football, Txiki Begiristain and Hugo Viana, after the season concludes. With two years remaining on his contract, a summer transfer appears increasingly likely, as the current situation is deemed untenable. Grealish has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium as Guardiola reshapes his squad.
