Pep Guardiola has dismissed speculation that he might leave Manchester City this summer, insisting he will see out his contract until 2027. The Spaniard described his decade at the club as “fucking fun” and suggested Saturday’s FA Cup final against Chelsea may not be his last Wembley appearance.
Guardiola, who has won 19 trophies in 10 years at City, including two Community Shields, jokingly flexed his biceps when asked if his success is taken for granted. “They don’t need to wait when I’m leaving, they know I’ve been fun. I’ve been fucking fun. So, 19 titles, fighting for 20 in 10 years, it’s not bad, honestly,” he said.
When asked if the Wembley visit could be tinged with sadness if he departs next month, Guardiola replied: “No way. No way. I have a one year [left on my] contract. I’m so disappointed that they don’t make a stand for Pep [at Wembley], the number of times I’ve been there – at least a lounge or a box. Maybe I go 24 more times.”
Guardiola also reflected on Wembley’s significance, recalling winning the European Cup there with Barcelona as a player in 1992 and as a coach in 2011. “It’s been a special place… It’s really good to go to Wembley again. Top,” he added.
Meanwhile, midfielder Rodri faces a late fitness test ahead of Saturday’s final.
