Jack Grealish has been left out of Manchester City's pre-season tour of Asia as he continues his recovery from a long-term foot injury. The 30-year-old returned to the Etihad Stadium this summer after a loan spell at Premier League rivals Everton, where he spent the entire 2025/26 campaign but saw his contributions limited after picking up the injury.
While Grealish will be desperate to impress new boss Enzo Maresca, he will not get that chance for the time being. His foot injury has been cited as a key reason for his omission from the City squad. The club are set to take on Inter Milan in Hong Kong before clashes with the K-League All-Stars and Atletico Madrid in South Korea. Grealish has just one year remaining on his contract.
Maresca's Comments on Grealish's Future
"At the moment, he's here. He's a Man City player," new City boss Maresca said of Grealish last week. "I always said the same. In any club I join, I like to know if there are players that belong to the club. It's my duty to try to coach them. Jack is here. I have a good relation with Jack since I left. Also, we keep in touch, and the reason why is because he has a big heart and he's a very good guy. So this is the reason why. And then we see what happens."
Grealish has made 157 appearances for City in all since his mega-money switch from boyhood club Aston Villa, scoring 17 goals and contributing to three Premier League titles and a Champions League success.
Speculation Over Grealish's Next Move
Former Aston Villa star Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Grealish for a move abroad should he leave City this summer. He said: "It will be interesting to see what happens with Jack, if he's given a chance by Maresca. He would have been part of that Man City squad that Maresca was at (as assistant). Or, will the manager think, 'No', and will Jack think, 'Do you know what? Maybe I want to move on'. I think it's still early doors, I think we have to see what happens over the next six weeks, there's still six weeks left of the transfer window… I don't see him staying there, I see him moving on. It wouldn't surprise me if he moves somewhere else in Europe, I don't see him staying in the Premier League. I think he's still got one year left on his contract, the wages as well, will that be a problem for some clubs maybe in the Premier League? But don't rule out maybe going back to Everton, David Moyes loved him."
