Steven Gerrard urges Liverpool to sign Michael Olise to replace Mohamed Salah

Steven Gerrard has named Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as his dream transfer target to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

Last month, Salah confirmed his decision to end his nine-year stint with Liverpool, with the Egyptian set to leave Anfield on a free transfer this summer.

The 33-year-old has been a stalwart for the Reds for nearly a decade, leaving a huge hole to fill on their right wing.

Olise is enjoying a remarkable season at Bayern, registering 16 goals and 28 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions, and joined the Bundesliga side in a £50 million deal from Crystal Palace in 2024.

Gerrard told talkSPORT Breakfast: 'I think the concern, if you're trying to replace Salah, in terms of like-for-like, I think there are very few out there that you can go and grab. Olise would be one, I would say, but I don't think he'd be available.'

However, Bayern officials have dismissed speculation. Honorary president Uli Hoeness said last month: 'If that's true… I don't believe it is… we won't be contributing to them playing better next year.' Sporting director Max Eberl added: 'Michael has a contract with us until 2029, without a release clause – we're relaxed.'
