Paul Gascoigne Reassures Friends from Hospital After Collapse

Paul Gascoigne has sent a message to friends and family from hospital after being found collapsed at his home in Poole, Dorset. The 58-year-old former England footballer told a pal: 'I'm fine' after being rushed into intensive care on Friday evening.

Gascoigne was discovered semi-conscious by his driver and personal assistant, Steve Foster, who rushed him to hospital. A source close to the star said: 'He has told friends that he is fine and was going to give an update later today. He has been doing well recently so this was an unexpected setback.'

The former Tottenham and Rangers star is expected to remain in hospital for several days but may be discharged earlier. Foster said: 'Paul is in hospital, which is the best possible place for him to be right now.'

Gascoigne's stepdaughter Bianca, sisters Lindsay and Anna, and former teammates including Peter Beardsley, Chris Waddle, Paul Merson and Vinnie Jones are monitoring his condition. The health scare comes after his company was dissolved in July for failing to file records.
