Gasperini warns United ahead of Champions League clash

Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini has issued a warning to Manchester United ahead of their Champions League clash by expressing confidence in his team's scoring abilities. United will face the Italian club in their next league phase fixture of the competition on Tuesday night, where they will be determined to get back to winning ways.

United's Recent Struggles

United have fallen to defeats to Como and Atletico Madrid in their last two Champions League matches, but did claim all three points when they faced Sabah back in September. Michael Carrick has not steered United to a win in any competition since that victory over Sabah, a run which extended to nine games following the defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League at the weekend.

Roma's Impressive Form

Roma have enjoyed an impressive run of form in Serie A this season, having yet to taste defeat in the Italian top flight and have scored 28 goals across their opening 10 matches. Gasperini has praised the goalscoring form of his team ahead of the clash against United, particularly one element, as they prepare for their trip to Old Trafford.

"Sometimes the numbers do tell you the story," Gasperini told reporters. "Besides scoring lots of goals, we're also scoring with many different players. That shows how much confidence there is in the team: lots of players believe they can make a decisive contribution, be it with an assist or a goal. We're scoring more goals with more players and that's a great sign."

Carrick's Future Under Scrutiny

United's clash against Roma comes amid ongoing speculation around Carrick's future as the club's manager. The form in the Premier League, which has seen the Reds fall to 17th place in the table and only outside the relegation zone on goal difference, has led to rumours that United could make a change. Reports emerged at the weekend that United were hoping to reach the upcoming international break before deciding on whether or not to part company with Carrick.

After facing Roma in the Champions League, United will face Aston Villa in the Premier League in their final match before the international break.
