Gary Neville: Man Utd dressing room had a 'tear up'

Gary Neville believes Manchester United's dressing room has 'definitely' had a 'tear up' following Lisandro Martinez's explosive interview after the defeat to Atletico Madrid. The former United captain spoke on his podcast after the 1-1 draw with Leeds United, suggesting the squad has had a heated confrontation and a meeting.

Neville's Verdict on the Dressing Room

Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, the former United captain said: "I think that dressing room's definitely had a... I think they've had a tear-up and they've had a meeting, 100 per cent." He added that there was "no way they've not dealt with that Martinez issue."

Neville referenced Amad Diallo's cryptic social media post after the midweek defeat, which read "F***ing disgrace. I have no words." He interpreted this as aimed at a team-mate, saying: "Well, that's at his team-mate. So they're obviously launching each other."

Martinez's Criticism and Amad's Post

Lisandro Martinez came out swinging in his post-match interview after the Atletico Madrid loss, criticising sporting director Jason Wilcox and claiming there should have been more investment during the summer transfer window. Amad also faced scrutiny for his social media post, which head coach Michael Carrick said on Friday was intended to back Martinez, while calling on Amad to channel the passion and emotion correctly.

Neville praised both players for their attitude, saying: "I think it's got a bit about him, Amad, to be fair. So has Martinez, Martinez has got something about him." He added: "He's gone rogue, but so has Amad."

Potential Turning Point for Carrick

Neville suggested the situation could benefit head coach Michael Carrick, saying: "Well, that can only be a good thing for Michael Carrick. Because you're looking at it and thinking, he needs something. He needs somebody to start fighting back."

He concluded: "Maybe Lisandro Martinez has done the best motivational speech that he's ever done for Manchester United on Tuesday night. Maybe he's done them a favour."
