Galatasaray Fans Banned from Liverpool Champions League Clash at Anfield

UEFA has confirmed that Galatasaray supporters will not be allowed to attend the Champions League last-16 second leg against Liverpool at Anfield on March 18. The ban follows the Turkish club's fans' misconduct during their 3-2 loss at Juventus on February 25, which included throwing objects, lighting fireworks, and crowd disturbances.

Galatasaray has also been fined €40,000 (£34,700) by UEFA's Appeals Body. The club announced it will appeal the decision, stating: "An appeal will be filed with the UEFA Appeals Committee against this decision."

Liverpool will first travel to Istanbul for the first leg on March 10. This will be their second visit to Rams Park this season, having lost 1-0 there during the league phase.

Italian media reported that prior to the Juventus match, Galatasaray fans clashed with home supporters and local police. A father and daughter were taken to hospital after being hit by a firecracker.

Before the European tie, Liverpool face Wolves in the FA Cup at Molineux, having lost 2-1 there in the Premier League recently. Manager Arne Slot commented on his team's form: "Same old story. Recently, we are picking up points because many times we’ve scored from set-pieces. But what did not change in the last five, six or seven games is that we struggle and find it very hard to score from open-play chances."
