Against Monaco, Gakpo used his physicality and direct running to help Liverpool transition quickly upfield, an approach already becoming evident under Iraola. Nyoni Fails to Capitalise on Jones Absence
Curtis Jones was absent from the squad due to a hip problem, which sparked speculation about his future at the club. Despite Iraola talking him up last month, Inter remain interested, and a move to Italy could happen before the summer ends. With Jones missing, Trey Nyoni had a chance to build on his pre-season form but failed to impress as Liverpool became disjointed without a real defensive option in midfield.
