Forests Penalty Perfection Sinks Midtjylland In Europa League

Nottingham Forest produced a stunning Europa League comeback to beat Midtjylland 3-0 on penalties after a 2-1 victory on the night, advancing to the quarter-finals. The Danish side missed all three spot-kicks, with Forest's substitutes Morgan Gibbs-White, Ibrahim Sangaré, and Neco Williams converting their penalties to seal the win.

Forest took the lead through Nicolás Domínguez's early header, before captain Ryan Yates scored a superb long-range strike. Martin Erlic equalised for Midtjylland midway through the second half, sending the tie to extra time. Despite a late Yates header being ruled offside, Forest held firm to force penalties.

Midtjylland's Cho Gue-sung hit the post with their first penalty, Aral Simsir struck the same post, and Edward Chilufya slipped and fired over, allowing Forest to prevail. The victory sets up a quarter-final clash against Porto, a reunion for Forest manager Vítor Pereira, who left the Portuguese club in 2013.

"The journey's not over yet – we're still dreaming," said Yates after the match. Forest's travelling fans celebrated wildly, with the team now turning their attention to a Premier League trip to Tottenham on Sunday.
