Mixed injury news for Nottingham Forest ahead of Burnley clash

Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira has provided an update on injuries to key players Chris Wood, Murillo, and Callum Hudson-Odoi following the club's Europa League quarter-final victory over Porto. Wood and Murillo are expected to be fit for Sunday's Premier League match against Burnley, but Hudson-Odoi faces a spell on the sidelines with a muscle injury.

Forest secured a 2-1 aggregate win over Porto thanks to a goal from Morgan Gibbs-White, setting up an all-English semi-final against Aston Villa. However, the win was marred by injuries to Wood, Murillo, and Hudson-Odoi, who all limped off during the match. Wood took a kick to the knee, Murillo suffered a knock, and Hudson-Odoi was seen leaving the stadium on crutches.

Pereira said: 'I'm not a doctor but I think Chris and Murillo will not be anything special. Of course, Chris has a bruise on his knee but I believe that him and Murillo will be ready for Burnley. Callum has a muscle injury and it is not possible, that's the bad news.'

The victory was also emotional for the squad, as they rallied around teammate Elliot Anderson, whose mother passed away before the game. Gibbs-White celebrated his winner by holding a shirt aloft in tribute to Anderson. Pereira added: 'Very sad situation. Everyone plays with Elliot in his heart. We're here to help him and we'll see if he can play the next game.'

Forest now face a crucial Premier League fixture against Burnley, with their top-flight status still precarious. Pereira emphasised the need for energy and unity, saying: 'We feel that we are creating something, the spirit to compete, to enjoy, to celebrate and to suffer together and this is the true spirit of a club.'
