Ferdinand Urges Man Utd to Target Baleba Over Sesko

Rio Ferdinand has advised Manchester United to abandon their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko and instead target Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, who he believes can have a huge impact on the squad. The former United defender made the comments on his YouTube channel, highlighting Baleba's physicality, tactical awareness, and Premier League experience.

Baleba, 21, has been impressive for Brighton since joining from Lille in 2023. He has expressed his ambition to win the Ballon d'Or, encouraged by players including Rodri, Declan Rice, and Matheus Cunha. Cunha, who recently joined United from Wolves, is among those who believe Baleba has the potential to achieve that goal.

United have already strengthened their attack this summer with the signings of Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. With Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee also in the squad, Ferdinand believes manager Ruben Amorim is well-stocked in forward areas and should prioritise midfield reinforcements.

The Red Devils had switched their focus to Sesko after deeming Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins too difficult to sign. However, Newcastle are also pursuing the Slovenian striker, and reports suggest Sesko may prefer a move to St James' Park. Ferdinand argued that United should instead invest in Baleba, saying: 'I go and break the bank. That's my man.'
